PLANKI  concrete and epoxy surfacing (how it should be done)

Is your new project on "PLANKI"  and you are lucky enough to be preparing your own floor from scratch and intend to finish off with a resin topping. The following will assist you in achieving the best possible concrete layer solution.

It is highly recommended that a movement mat is placed on the “Planki” before concrete is cast.   This should take out the movement from the “Planki” to the concrete.

Concrete is to be cast at recommended thickness and hardness according to intended loading.  For this one need to give their architect details of the loading of any machinery, forklifts fully loaded and palletizers fully loaded.  From this data, your architect can determine the thickness of the concrete, the gauge of the steel mesh required as well as the concreted strength required.

Concrete surface should be specified to concrete contractors as to the flatness required.  An example of this can be as follows:
  • 3mm over 3 meters
  • 4mm over 3 meters
  • etc...

It is VERY IMPORTANT that saw cuts (crack inducement joints) are carried out by the concrete contractor within 24 hours of concreted being poured.

The surface of the concrete need to be power floated without surface hardener.  (if surface hardener is used, it should be  removed again during floor preparation)
